Tim is a Partner in our Insolvency Group and participates in management as a member of our firm’s Executive Committee.

Tim's practice focuses primarily in the areas of insolvency law, debtor/creditor rights, financial reorganization and debtor restructuring, secured financing transactions, Personal Property Security Act matters and resolution of commercial disputes. His clients include the stakeholders affected by or involved in formal and informal insolvency proceedings and financial restructuring, including lenders, debtors, suppliers and other trade creditors, landlords, property managers, trustees in bankruptcy, private, court-appointed and interim receivers and court-appointed monitors.

Tim has particular expertise in advising special loans departments of lending institutions and, in particular, designing and negotiating complex refinancing and restructuring agreements including forbearance arrangements for businesses experiencing financial difficulties and negotiating sales by or purchases from receivers and trustees in bankruptcy. Tim has acted for stakeholders in many insolvency situations involving the retail, manufacturing, transportation, high tech and automotive sectors. Tim has also been involved in numerous complex filings, including those of a cross border nature, commenced under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.

Tim is a member of various professional associations, including the Law Society of Upper Canada, INSOL International, Canadian Management Turnaround Association, the Credit Institute of Canada and the Canadian Insolvency Foundation. For the past decade, Tim has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the Insolvency Section of the Canadian Bar Association.

Tim is a frequent lecturer at professional institute, legal association, banking and business community programmes.
