Ryan is a Partner and Chair of Minden Gross LLP’s Business Law Group. He has a broad corporate and commercial practice with a particular emphasis on commercial finance and private business transactions.
As part of his financing practice, Ryan acts regularly for both lenders and borrowers on a wide range of transactions often involving complex lending structures and multiple jurisdictions. These include asset based lending, mezzanine financing, real estate financing, wholesale automotive financing, securitization, and project financing.
In his private business practice, Ryan assists his clients with corporate reorganizations, advises them on private equity investments (both investor and target), and works with them through all stages of the purchase or sale of a business. Ryan also works frequently with start-ups, is experienced with shareholder/partnership disputes and is skilled in the negotiation and drafting of various types of commercial contracts.
Those who have worked with Ryan know that what you see is what you get. He is a practical negotiator, a pro-active problem solver and someone who is committed to his clients' timeframes and deadlines. His approach with his clients is to work with them as though he is their in-house counsel. This means that, rather than simply focusing on the task at hand, Ryan will take the time to understand the nuances of his clients’ business and align himself with their goals and objectives. This allows him to quickly react to the changing needs of his clients and offer legal solutions that address both short term requirements and long term strategies.
Away from work Ryan enjoys playing recreational hockey and basketball and spending summer weekends with his family on Lake Simcoe. Ryan is always looking for the next DIY project around the house and is also an avid podcast listener.
