Minden Gross stood out to me as an
exceptional firm throughout the entire
interview process because of its people.
The lawyers genuinely care about your
learning experience and take an active
role in your legal, and professional,
development. The collegial atmosphere
and unique practices at Minden Gross
provide students with distinct and
extensive learning opportunities.
Throughout my summer experience, I was
involved in a variety of files, all of
which provided me with challenging,
hands-on work. I am extremely pleased
with my decision to become a part of the
Minden Gross team, and I look forward to
the experiences I will be afforded
throughout my articling term.

The first time I walked into Minden Gross was on the morning of my articling interview. All I could really know at that time was that Minden Gross was a reputable mid-size business law firm. Within minutes of beginning my interview, I realized that this firm was so much more than just the legal services it offers; that it was equally defined by the people that comprise it. My experience as an articling student thus far continues to reaffirm these initial impressions. What you have at Minden Gross is a group of exceptionally talented lawyers with diverse styles and personalities, all of whom are devoted to doing excellent work. Concomitantly, they promote a culture that is inviting and which compels each person who works here to want to be a part of it and to add to it. Even more, these lawyers are amazing teachers who take the time out of their schedules to impart on you their knowledge and experience, and expose you to a broad spectrum of legal work. Yet articling here is about more than just getting practical legal experience. Each member of the firm - from its lawyers to its support staff- is also helping to shape my overall development as a lawyer. There is a firm-wide commitment to excellence, and the pride that people take in their work is obvious. Personal exchanges are not only collegial, they are warm and genuine. Overall, my experience at Minden Gross exceeds any expectations I may have had coming in. I am doing challenging work, while also receiving encouragement and support from those who assign it. What is more, I am being thoroughly entertained by the amazing personalities that make up Minden Gross. They will quickly shake you out of your shell and are an absolute pleasure to be around and to learn from

Having
shared experiences with my colleagues
from other firms, I can say that Minden
Gross provides a unique work environment
that would be welcomed by most young
lawyers. Reflecting on the articling
process, I selected Minden Gross because
I felt that the firm would provide me
with the opportunity to work on complex
legal matters in a collegial and
supportive environment and my 5 years
with the firm have served to confirm my
initial impressions.
Given the size of the firm, I have had
the opportunity to work closely with
some of the most well respected lawyers
in Toronto on a variety of commercial
law matters and I am continually humbled
by the extent to which these individuals
are willing to lend their time and
insights to assist me with files and
support my professional growth.
Minden Gross commits significant
resources to the professional
development of its young lawyers through
continuing legal education programs
hosted by leading practitioners at the
firm and various professional
development organizations.
The firm also supports a number of
well-attended social/recreational
activities that bring the lawyers and
staff together outside of the office
setting. I believe that these
initiatives have contributed to creating
an environment where people enjoy
working together and develop genuine
friendships.

The lawyers in the firm take their roles
as mentors seriously and seek to provide
guidance and support second to none.
As a summer and articling student, the
lawyers always pushed to ensure I
understood how a file progressed from
start to finish through the law firm, so
that I could learn not only about an
area of law, but about how to practice
within that area. They accomplished
this by providing me with much needed
hands-on experience, the opportunity to
work with clients independently, and by
slowly increasing my level of
responsibility within a file as my
skills grew. Above all, the lawyers
worked hard to make sure I never felt
like just a 'student', but instead as an
integral part of a client's legal team -
my thoughts and ideas were always
welcomed and encouraged. Now, as an
associate, Minden Gross continues to
contribute to my professional
development, by providing me with even
more opportunities to take
responsibility for my legal practice, my
practice style, and my client
relationships.

During the OCI process, Minden Gross
stood out to me from other firms because
of its people. It had leading
practitioners who loved their job and
who seemed to be able to balance work
along with the rest of their life. After
summering and articling at the firm, I
can verify that these things are true.
The lawyers at Minden Gross are
friendly, approachable, and eager to
mentor students. I worked on many
interesting files and quickly became
part of the team.
